![]() Today in Parliament I met with representatives from Liberty, a civil rights group, who have campaigned against the UK Governments Investigatory Powers Act. I believe that many of the powers of this Act, which was passed into law in Parliament this month, are of questionable legality and go further than any other government in the west has ever been prepared to go. While I understand the need for proportionate powers to fight serious crime and terrorism, this bill simply goes too far and our civil liberties must be protected. I will continue to campaign against the most intrusive features of the Investigatory Powers Act.
