Fantastic visit this morning to local charity Cumbernauld & Kilsyth Care who run Cumbernauld & Kilsyth Baby Bank and Cumbernauld & Kilsyth School Uniform Bank.
I spoke to Chair and Secretary of the charity, Lisa and Cheryl about the amazing work they do to support families in the area and the challenges they face - not least since the introduction of Universal Credit, which is causing a great deal of financial hardship for families. The charity would really welcome donations of children's winter coats, scarves, gloves and hats as they start to prepare for the colder weather. They can always use new underwear for children up to age to 16. I'm told they are always low on underwear for older boys and general clothing for girls age 9-10. The charity is entirely run by volunteers, so they would delighted of any offers of assistance and help with fundraising too. Having spent some time this morning sorting through the very generous donations from our community, I can say it's a very satisfying experience! Thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who provide this vital service for our community.
