Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch East MP, Stuart McDonald, visited Cumbernauld Fire Station as part of Doors Open Day this weekend. Doors Open Day is a national initiative where different public buildings and organisations allow the public behind the scenes to places they wouldn’t normally get a chance to see. This weekend was the North Lanarkshire Doors Open Day.
Stuart McDonald commented:
“Door Open Day is a fantastic Scotland wide initiative which allows members of the public to view places they wouldn’t normally get to see. I know in Cumbernauld buildings as varied as the Barrs Irn Bru Factory and the top floor of the Stuart House block of flats were open for visiting.
“I took the chance to take an enjoyable and informative visit to Cumbernauld Fire Station. It was great to see a decent crowd who had turned up to take advantage of the opportunity to look around the station, and even have a go in some of the engines!
“Thanks to the staff there for a really interesting tour and insight into the challenges facing our fire service and its hard-working personnel.”
