Out of Hours Review

27/8/2015

One of the important issues considered again at a lively and informative meeting of Kilsyth Community Council last week was Out of Hours Service Provision.  At present an interim arrangement is in place in Lanarkshire that sees services delivered at Community Facilities in Airdrie and Hamilton, instead of at the three hospital sites.  No final decision on permanent arrangements will be made until the Scottish Government’s very welcome national review on out of hours services provision is concluded.

Please share your experiences and thoughts about the future of out of hours care with the review panel by emailing them on OutofHoursReview@scotland.gsi.gov.uk . I know there is strong feeling that out of hours service provision should be maintained in Cumbernauld, while constituents in Kilsyth argue that people should be allowed to travel to facilities in other health board areas that are more convenient, such as at Stobhill or Forth Valley.  These are strong arguments which I have already made to the national out of hours review panel (and to Lanarkshire Health Board) – the more people that make them to the national review body the better!
