I wanted to highlight the excellent work of The Outward Bound Trust UK and in particular The Outward Bound Trust’s Mark Scott Leadership for Life Award.
On a recent visit to the Cornerstone House Foodbank, Jamie Hepburn MSP and I were introduced to some young local volunteers taking part in the scheme and who were providing activity for the children of the families attending the food bank, in order to make it a more child friendly and sociable place. The scheme brings together over 220 S6 pupils from 77 schools across the Central Belt of Scotland. The participants are drawn from different social, economic, religious and cultural backgrounds, to work together to deliver projects to benefit their local communities. On the evidence of our visit, the local youngsters had done just that – a real credit to the Trust and the award. For more information on the award and the work of the trust, visit http://mslfla.org/
