This link takes you to today’s back bench business debate on proposed HMRC office closures, obtained by my colleague and PCS Parliamentary Group Chairman Chris Stephens MP. Lots of thoughtful contributions from MPs with constituencies that also face the loss of a major local employer.
I was pleased to sum up from the SNP benches – “the case for cuts and closures has not been made. We no longer need glossy brochures and buzzwords, but hard facts, detailed scrutiny and genuine consultation”. Not a single Conservative MP bothered to turn up other than the Minister, who sadly appeared to lift much of his speech directly from the same glossy brochures we’ve had enough of. The fight will go on. https://hansard.digiminster.com/commons/2016-04-28?showNoDebateMessage=True
