This morning, Jamie Hepburn MSP and I met with representatives of Strathclyde Passenger Transport (SPT) as part of our ongoing campaign to protect bus services in Kilsyth, Queenzieburn, Banton and Kelvinhead. SPT outlined the work they had done to pursue alternatives and resolve the significant problems that would be brought about by First Bus proposals to remove x86 and 24 services.

The most recent update we have received from First Bus this week includes proposals to trial a new service 4B between Falkirk and Croy, taking in Kelvinhead, Banton and Kilsyth. This ensures Banton and Kelvinhead will continue to have a regular bus service. It will, however, require transfers to other services if travelling to destinations towards Glasgow – though First Bus state the timetable will be designed to allow for transfers to other services to take place with through ticketing.

We will continue to provide updates as we work alongside Cllr Alan Stevenson to press the many other concerns that remain regarding the loss of routes x86 and 24 with First Bus.
