An important and exciting step foward…

Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop has told a Scottish Parliament Committee that a private investor is expected to submit a planning application to massively expand existing production facilities at Wardpark Studios to create a TV and film studio.

The proposals for Wardpark Studios – used for the production of Outlander- would see an additional 30,000 square feet across two new 50 foot-high sound stages, and have been the subject of detailed negotiations between its owners and the Film Studio Delivery Group (FSDG), comprising the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise and Creative Scotland. Ministers could provide up to £4m to help with the project – including £1.5m in grant funding and up to £2.5m of loan cash.

It’s expected the planning application will be submitted to North Lanarkshire Council later this week.
